On November 3rd, Texans go to the ballot box with the opportunity to pass a constitutional amendment that will positively impact the State’s real estate market!
Proposition 1 – SJR 1, if passed, will raise the state-mandated homestead exemption for public school taxes from $15,000 to $25,000 thereby lowering the tax bill for all Texas homeowners…and it would be effective immediately…as in your 2015 tax bill! In addition, the measure also bans a sales tax on real estate transactions…permanently! There is a good summary of the proposed amendment in the recent Texas Realtor magazine.
Early Voting began this week and continues through October 30th. Check out VoteTexas.Gov to find out where your local precinct is…and then GO VOTE!!!
